The low price of this coat surprised me. Even at full price, this coat would have looked much more expensive than it actually was priced. But at 70% off, or just $11.98 plus tax, I couldn't believe it hadn't sold out by now. In addition, with my 5% off discount from my Target card, the final price for this coat came out to just $11.38 plus tax.
I've had sandwiches for lunch that cost more than this coat.
First of all, the material of the coat is very soft and warm. Although there were other colors, I got the toffee colored coat because it both looked and felt a little bit like suede. To match the coat, there were two rows of big round faux tortoiseshell buttons that normally would cost around $3.00, or more than a quarter of the sale price of the coat. The garment tag says it is 100% polyester, which is to be expected from the price point, but it definitely does not look polester at all. And it is very warm. Did I mention it is a warm coat? Just in case, I reiterate, it is a lovely warm coat, perfect for freezing winters.
Next, what I found most amazing of all, is the amount of stitching that went into the coat. As the above and below photos show, the back is made of 5 different panels, not including the ruffles at the bottom. The front is constructed of four panels on each side of the coat (three vertical, and a spaulder type coming down from the shoulder), again not including the ruffles at the bottom. Not only is the number of panels on this coat mind-boggling, it also comes with pockets too! As for the ruffles, there are three tiers, and they are substantial.
Finally, the design is young and trendy but not to the point where I can't wear it. The coat is a junior size coat, so I had to size up a bit. But once I did, it looked fine on me. In fact, the coat even kind of reminded me of the Burberry trench coat that Colbie Smulders wore in How I Met Your Mother in 2010. Of course, the coat is more an "inspired by" version rather than a "look for less" type of coat. Here are some pictures of the Burberry coat.
The coat is sold out on Target's website now, so it is only available in stores.
