I don't know if this is the same at all Target stores, but my local Target has an entire wall of $5.00 or less accessories. Some of them are pretty tacky, some are cheap-looking, and almost anything with pave crystals have horrible shoddy workmanship. However, they also have pieces with clean cut lines that are modern and simple, and from time to time I'll even find something that I can't wait to wear.
A few weeks ago, I saw this whimsical bird-on-a-branch necklace that made my heart leap a little bit. I did a bit of research since then, and found there are quite a few similar versions with different price points floating around various boutiques and Etsy shops. However, they all share one thing in common - they are all over $5.00. So far, it looks like this Target version is the least expensive one out there, so it's the winner in my book.
I went ahead and got it today. As the picture shows, the necklace is actually part of a set, and the entire set was for $4.99 plus tax. I didn't like the enamel floral earrings that came in the set at all, but I don't mind paying the $4.99 for the set. I think the necklace itself is worth that much. As for the earrings, I'll donate them to Goodwill and take a tax deduction on it next year.
